Listen to the Chapel songs Mr. and Mrs. Huff

Social Studies-Check out our Classmate's Timelines of their lives.  They are on our Blog, it’s on the previous post.  Some new ones are added.
Check out the Timeline of Our Community.  View it on fullscreen and pull the bottom blue bar over so you can see all the events.  We will continue to be studying the events on this timeline.  Virtual Field Trip today is to the Mount Clemens Rose Gardens. Mount Clemens was the Rose Growing Capital of the United Stated for more than 100yrs.  Roses were another major industry for Mount Clemens.  John Breitmeyer started one of the first rose gardens in 1882 in Mount Clemens. Mrs. Huff’s street is named after him, Breitmeyer Place.  Grace Kment’s house is right next door to where one of the Rose Gardens once stood on Floral.  Some of the roses once were transported by wheelbarrow to the Grand Trunk Depot, where Thomas Edison worked.

Behind me is where the Rose Gardens once stood.

The largest producing rose garden once stood on the corner of Cass and Clinton River Road.  The land is now cleared for new homes to be built on it.  The rose gardens closed in 1999.
